George Kobulia Offered TOSHIBA Representatives to Launch Production and Open Regional Office in Georgia

Within the frames of the official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Mamuka Bakhtadze to Japan, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, George Kobulia held a meeting with the Representative Executive Officer and the Chief Operation Officer of the TOSHIBA Corporation, Satoshi Tsunakawa.

Georgian side provided information on the investment opportunities in Georgia and the liberal tax legislation to the Representative Executive Officer and the Chief Operation Officer of the TOSHIBA Corporation. The advantages that Georgia has in terms of attracting investments due to the Free Trade Agreements with the EU, the CIS states, China and other countries, as well as the business-friendly legislation were also highlighted. The accents were made on the country’s improved rankings in which reflect the Georgia’s positive economic trends and the efficiency of ongoing and scheduled reforms.

TOSHIBA representatives were offered to launch production in Georgia as well as to open the regional office and logistics center. The Representative Executive Officer and the Chief Operation Officer of the TOSHIBA confirmed the interest and relevant decision to conduct the feasibility study on the issue. 

TOSHIBA representatives expressed interest in ongoing projects in the energy sector of Georgia. It should be noted that the Japanese corporation is one of the largest producers of energy turbines in the world. Therefore, the Japanese corporation plans to study Georgian market in this regard.
