George Kobulia Attended Yong Innovators Award Ceremony at Technology Park

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, George Kobuli and the Ambassador of Italy to Georgia, Antonio Enrico Bartoli attended the Young Innovators award ceremony at the Technology Park in Tbilisi. Competition was held within the frames of an official agreement signed between the COTEC and the GITA in 2018 during the visit of the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella (Honorary President of the COTEC) to Georgia.

“Technologies and innovations are one of the main priorities of our economy. Today is an important day since we are starting to cooperate with the Italy. Italy is one of the leading countries in the field of innovations, so we can learn a lot from our Italian partners,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated at the award ceremony.

At the ceremony George Kobulia announced two winners, young Georgian innovators Guram Tsirekidze and Nino Grigalashvili who will enjoy a three-month internship in Italy.

George Kobulia highlighted the importance of the fact that two young Georgian innovators and startupers will be able to have a three-month internship in Italy in the most innovative companies.

“One of them will enjoy internship at Apple’s laboratory, and another in the Innovative Center of Brembo, a manufacturer of braking systems for the world’s most prestigious brands. This content is only the beginning and we need to strengthen our cooperation in the field of innovations and technologies with Italy,” – George Kobulia added.

Today, the Italian Embassy is organizing a seminar on the topic “Transforming Ideas into Manufacturing – Intuition into Business” which will cover different fields including mechanics, informatics, innovative materials and life sciences. Experts of innovations from Italy specializing in the seminar will share their experiences with Georgian colleagues.

“Only the idea, even the genius one, is not enough. The idea needs to be realized. Italian participants of the workshop will tell you about the importance of our innovative ecosystem's main components and share their knowledge and experience. This event is a great opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss prospects for fruitful cooperation between Italy and Georgia,” – the Italian Ambassador to Georgia, Antonio Enrico Bartoli noted.
