Natia Turnava Discussed Bilateral Trade and Economic Relations with Saudi Arabia Ambassador

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Saudi Arabia to Georgia, H.E. Abdullah bin Hajjaj Al-Mutairi.

Trade and economic relations between Georgia and Saudi Arabia and the prospects of their development were discussed during the meeting. It was noted that the opening of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tbilisi will give an important impetus to the deepening of cooperation between the two countries, encourage the businesses of the two countries to cooperate more and promote relations in various important fields, such as bilateral trade, investments, tourism, transport and more.

It was noted that Saudi Arabia is interested in cooperating with Georgia in the field of export of agricultural products.

There is also a positive trend in terms of the number of tourists from Saudi Arabia to Georgia – in January-June 2019, the number of tourists from Saudi Arabia was increased by 68%. Launching of direct flights between Georgia and Saudi Arabia (number of flights reached 11 flights a week) facilitated to the increase a lot.

At the meeting, the Georgian side expressed hope that the Saudi side would be solidly represented at the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum 2019.
