30-12-2019

“Despite all the challenges, as a result of the joint efforts of the private sector, government and international organizations and result-oriented work, Georgia hosted a record 9.3 million international travelers in 2019. It was not an easy year for the tourism industry, there were challenges, too, but in line with more success,” – Natia Turnava, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said at the summary presentation of the tourism results 2019.

“Such an unprecedented outcome could have been achieved through our joint and coordinated work of the entire government team:

In 2019, we launched targeted and result-oriented marketing campaigns;

We have helped expand the geography of direct flights from Georgia, including through low-cost airlines. This has allowed many foreign tourists to visit Georgia at any time of the year - spend Christmas and New Year in our country, just as our citizens have the opportunity to travel very comfortably and affordably for the New Year;

We have operatively backed the family hotels, when they were unexpectedly affected after the June 20 events and about 200 small hotels have already benefited from this financial assistance; We have made our financial aid priorities more targeted within the frames of Produce in Georgia program, so that 2020 will be a tourism-oriented year. Along with the hotels, we will pay special attention to balneological resorts and tourism services, including theme parks, ethno-villages, adventure tourism and more,” – Natia Turnava said.
