Natia Turnava Met with European Olympic Committee (EOC) Delegation

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava, met with the European Olympic Committee (EOC) delegation headed by the Committee’s Sports Director, Peter Brüll . The delegation was composed of the members of the Evaluation Commission for the European Youth Olympic Festival, Stratos Karetos and Azer Aliyev.

At the suggestion of the National Olympic Committee, the Government of Georgia has decided to host the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival scheduled for 2025 in Bakuriani.

The respective application was sent to the European Olympic Committee last year, consequently, the Olympic Committee registered Georgia as a candidate country.

According to Natia Turnava, hosting the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival is a very good chance to once again introduce Georgia's resorts and the country, as a whole, to the world. 

“As you know, Georgia has submitted an application to the European Olympic Committee requesting to host the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in 2025. Today we are honored to host the representatives of the International Olympic Committee. This is a great opportunity for us to once again introduce our resorts, tourism potential and the whole Georgia to the world, promote the Georgian sports, especially winter sports, and also help young people in order more famous sportsmen to be trained in the country,” - Natia Turnava stated. 

The Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Director of the Mountain Resorts Development Company, Teimuraz Gamtsemlidze, the Adviser to the Minister, Aleksandre Onoprishvili and the Vice President of the Georgian National Olympic Committee, Mamuka Khabareli, participated in the meeting.
