Natia Turnava Met with Azerbaijan Economy Minister, Mikayil Jabbarov

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava held a meeting with the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mikayil Jabbarov, who was on his official visit in Georgia.

The Ministers and other attendees of the meeting discussed the trade and economic relations of the two countries and focused on the priority areas for the cooperation including bilateral trade, energy, transport and logistics, investments, tourism, etc.

“Today, as never before, economic relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan are at a very high level. Azerbaijan has traditionally been a leader in bilateral trade relations. We are implementing many joint economic, infrastructure and business projects together. Today over 700 companies with Azerbaijani capital operate in Georgia and there are very good conditions for joint business activities as well as for Azerbaijani business in Georgia,” – the Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development commented after the meeting.

Natia Turnava highlighted that the sides discussed cooperation on international recognition and development of the transport corridor passing through Georgia and Azerbaijan. “If our countries unite their efforts to increase the competitiveness of the corridor, it will bring benefits to both countries,” – Georgian Minister noted.

The Ministers also discussed other priority issues that will be relevant at the session of the Georgian and Azerbaijani Governmental Commission, which will be chaired by the Prime Ministers of the two countries.
