Natia Turnava Met with Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava met with Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, Suren Papikian, who is paying a working visit to Georgia.

The Ministers discussed the issues related to economic cooperation between Georgia and Armenia, with special emphasis on the energy and transport sectors. Natia Turnava briefed her Armenian counterpart on the ongoing reform in Georgia’s energy sector and benefits from its liberalization in the country’s energy market. The sides also discussed the issue of rehabilitation and construction of energy infrastructure connecting the countries.

It was also noted that Armenia receives energy supplies through the territory of Georgia, thus the unhindered functioning of Georgia’s transport infrastructure has the greatest impact on the country’s uninterrupted energy supply. Natia Turnava briefed her Armenian counterpart on projects planned to develop the country’s transport and road infrastructure, including seaports, railways and road transport, as well as opportunities for co-operation in the development of regional transit corridors.
