Natia Turnava, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, commented on the decision of the owners of the branded hotels, which provided the state with free hotel infrastructure for arranging the quarantine space.

Natia Turnava noted that today, when Georgia, along with the rest of the world, faces the biggest challenge of tackling the Coronavirus, unity, support and the social responsibility of the businesses are vital.

“I would like to note with great joy that brand-hotels are also involved in this program and provided unprecedented support for the State - the owners of the Sheraton Grand Hotel, the Moxy Tbilisi, the IBISI and the Hotel Dreamland Oasis offered us the hotels for free. I would like to thank them wholeheartedly and express my sincere respect for each of them for such a support,” – Natia Turnava said.

According to the Minister, Georgian Government announced a state of emergency within the framework of the prevention of coronavirus, which implies an enhanced quarantine regime and the placement of all citizens entering Georgia into the isolation in quarantine zones.

“For this purpose, we, the Ministry of Economy, together with the National Tourism Administration, are arranging quarantine spaces in hotels around the country. Currently, there are more than 4200 people in 64 hotels in quarantine mode. However, the number of quarantine spaces where needed is increasing daily and taking into account the circumstances, the support of the hotel sector is extremely important. Today, the main and special priority is to protect the health of the population. A well-secured quarantine means protecting each of us. I am sure that with joint efforts we will be able to cope with the difficult situation and the challenge,” – the Minister of Economy noted.
