Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava attended the opening ceremony of the New Technologies Impex that shall produce medical face masks.

Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs Ekaterine Tikaradze, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Director of the Partnership Fund Davit Saganelidze, Rector of the Technical University Davit Gurgenidze, Ambassador of China to Georgia Li Yan and other  high-ranking guests also attended the opening ceremony.

Natia Turnava noted it is important that just a few months ago, when the world and Georgia faced the challenges of the pandemic, Georgia was an importer of the medical facemasks. However, according to the Minister, with the involvement of the private sector, today Georgia has become an exporter of the facemask.

“The local market is so saturated with high-quality medical and household facemasks and now we decided to start exporting them. Enterprises like New Technologies Impex, which produces millions of high-quality medical facemasks and providing them at the local as well as the foreign markets are to create a strong Georgian economy,” – Natia Turnava said.

According to the Minister of Economy, everything produced in Georgia will be supported by the state through its state programs.

“With our support, more and more enterprises are joining the initiative to produce facemasks and are producing commercial products not only for the Georgian market, but also for export. This is how our private sector and our government react to the challenges that many other giant countries cannot cope with so successfully,” – Natia Turnava added.

The New Technologies Impex is an enterprise of a highest European standard, which consists of 2 production lines equipped with the most modern, standard equipment. The full-time capacity of the plant is 12 million cubic meters a month.

The product Faceguard is designed for both local and export markets. The project is the concept fully elaborated by the Partnership Fund and is being implemented with private investment and financial support from the TBC Bank. At the first stage, up to 50 people will be employed at the New Technologies Impex.
