Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava met with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Georgia, Peter Mikiska. The priority directions of bilateral economic cooperation with special emphasis on the possibility of cooperation in the field of tourism and the restoration of direct air traffic were discussed at the meeting.

Natia Turnava briefed the Czech Ambassador on the Georgian Government’s decisions aimed at implementing the guidelines of the World Health Organization in the field of local tourism infrastructure, which should enable the country to provide safe services to tourists. According to the Minister, Georgia plans to host international travelers from July 1, and before that, preparations are underway to ensure that modern safety standards are observed at all stages of tourism services.

The Czech Ambassador Peter Mikiska positively assessed the actions taken by the Georgian government to prevent the spread of the pandemic, thus making the experience of Georgia an example for many countries.

The importance of a safe corridor between the countries and the implementation of travel protocols, which will allow visitors from both countries to travel safely were also discussed during the conversation.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genadi Arveladze and the Head of the National Tourism Administration, Mariam Kvrivishvili also attended the meeting.
