Agreement on Air Traffic Signed between Georgia and Korea

Georgia and the Republic of Korea signed an Agreement on Air Traffic. According to the Agreement, Georgian airlines will be able to operate regular flights to Korea’s largest international airports, while Korean airlines will be able to operate regular flights at Georgian airports.

With the signing of the Agreement, a legal framework in the field of air transport was created between the two countries, which will make the implementation of the direct regular flights between Georgia and the Republic of Korea even more attractive and promote expanding of the flight area, deepen trade and economic relations and tourism.

It is important to note that in recent years, before the pandemic, there was a sharp increase in the number of visitors to Georgia from the Republic of Korea. In 2019, in particular, 16 642 visitors came to Georgia from the Republic of Korea, which is by 25,3% higher figure compared to the year of 2018 and by 112,2% higher than in 2017.

In 2018-2019, the Korean Air operated several charter flights between Georgia and the Republic of Korea, and carried up to 1 500 passengers.
