Natia Turnava Met with Minister oof Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Within the framework of the Ministerial of Transport held in Istanbul, Turkey, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava met with the Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Rashad Nabiyev.

The Ministers discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in different transport sectors. Areas where the relationship is particularly successful are highlighted. It was noted that the coordinated cooperation between the countries facilitates the process of attracting cargo in the Europe-Asia transport corridor, which ultimately has a positive effect on the economies of both countries. In particular, it was discussed the necessity of holding joint presentations on various regional and international platforms, participating in profile exhibitions and other activities.

Special emphasis was attached to the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, on which the delegations of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey signed a special protocol at the Istanbul Ministerial. It was underlined that the timely completion of the railway line is of outmost importance. At the same time, it was stressed that the number of containers transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is growing.

Prospects of cooperation in the fields of communication, information technologies as well as other issues were also discussed at the meeting.
