Natia Turnava Discusses Georgia’s Transport and Logistical Potential with DP World

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava, within the framework of the current Expo 2020 in Dubai, together with the members of the Georgian delegation, held a meeting with the company DP World, which works in the field of logistics and transport. According to the Minister, the meeting focused on the potential of Georgia as a regional leader in terms of logistics development, as well as specific projects, including the Anaklia deep-sea port. Head of the Georgian delegation, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Environment and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili, also attended the meeting.

“DP World is one of the leading companies in the world in terms of terminal-port services, cargo shipping and logistics. We introduced them to the development of logistics infrastructure in Georgia and talked about the deep-sea port of Anaklia. DP World knows our Black Sea coast very well, it knows the potential that Georgia has in the region, as a very important part of the corridor, as a logistics platform,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development noted.

Natia Turnava noted that during the meeting with the Georgian side, the company representatives expressed interest in getting acquainted in detail with the research conducted by the Georgian Government on Anaklia, according to which the Anaklia deep-sea port project still maintains high business attractiveness.

DP World is a reputable global container-terminal operator. It operates 82 maritime terminals in 40 countries around the world, handling an average of 70 million containers a year. The company also provides logistics and maritime services and operates free industrial zones.
