Levan Davitashvili Met with CEO of US International Development Finance Corporation, Scott A. Nathan

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili had a meeting with the CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, Scott A. Nathan where the priorities of economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

It was highlighted at the meeting that the USA is the main strategic partner to Georgia and via such organizations as the US International Development Finance Corporation facilitates the development of various economic sectors of the country, such as financial sector, tourism, healthcare, , manufacturing, renewable energy, etc. The Corporation has already invested over 750 million USD in Georgia while currently, it is implementing 12 active projects in Georgia with investment volume of 188 mln. USD.

The DFC plans to establish regional offices and the Georgian side reiterated its readiness to continue cooperation in terms of opening the office in Georgia.

The US side was very interested in the project of the Submarine Cable between Georgia and Romania, which aims to connect the South Caucasus Region directly to the Eastern Europe and strengthen Georgia’s energy independence.
The US side once again stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between the two countries and the development of Georgia as a regional hub.

The United States is one of the largest investors in the Georgian economy, with investments exceeding 1,8 billion USD. According to the data by March 1, 2022, there are 351 US-owned companies operating in Georgia, covering such sectors as transportation, communications, finance, manufacturing, infrastructure, and real estate.
