Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili opened an edible snail processing plant of Timeo, a beneficiary company of the Enterprise Georgia Agency.
Timeo contributes from the credit-guarantee mechanism of the Enterprise Georgia Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and received a loan in the amount of 1,5 million GEL within the program.
The company invested approximately GEL 7 000 000 to build a snail processing plant. The factory of the highest standards was awarded a unique enterprise code and CE certificate. The enterprise currently employs 100 people, including locals.
“These young people have shown how they can organize a successful project in a very short time and take the first important and impressive steps. I am glad that the state also contributes to their success and the company developed the project with the support of the Enterprise Georgia Agency. Every such project is important for us, since they especially promote employment in the region,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili stated.
The new snail factory in Tsilkani has no analogue in the region. It will process 1000 tons of snails annually and export the whole product to France. Timeo has already signed an agreement with the largest French company, based on which the company Escal, which is the undisputed leader in the French market in the field of molluscs and fisheries, will fully buy the snail processed by the Georgian company.
