Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Romeo Mikautadze attended the presentation of the EU-funded Twinning Light project of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) on Creating Enabling Environment for Digitalisation and Developing Digitalisation Strategy.

Deputy Minister thanked the initiators of the project and noted that the digitalization process is one of the most important tasks of the energy sector. The project contributes to the development and quality improvement of consumer and domestic services, as well as the approximation of Georgia to EU standards in many directions. Therefore, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, as one of the branches of the executive power of the State, fully supports its implementation.

Romeo Mikautadze highlighted that the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development is actively working on the development of the country’s energy policy, the refinement of the Georgian National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan, and the role of the GNERC is very important in this process. According to the Deputy Minister, the energy policy of Georgia envisages the mastery of digital technologies and its active use in various fields, which, in general, will contribute to the optimization and development of the energy systems.
