Levan Davitashvili Met with Director-General of Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili met with the Director General of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, (SIDA) Carin Jämtin and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia, Ulrik Tidestrom. Deputy Minister Genadi Arveladze also participated in the meeting.

Priority areas of economic relations between Georgia and Sweden were discussed at the meeting. Particular attention was paid to such issues as strengthening of economic integration in the European Union and development of a fully functioning market economy.

The conversation also covered current trends in the economy of Georgia and individual sectors of the economy, including tourism, energy, transport and logistics, etc.

Special emphasis was placed on Sweden’s support for the measures implemented by Georgia within the framework of the DCFTA (Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement with the European Union).

It was also emphasized that Sweden is the fifth largest donor country to Georgia and implements numerous projects mainly through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.

The parties focused on SIDA-supported projects in Georgia aimed at supporting agriculture, energy efficiency, sustainable development, environmental protection, strengthening women’s rights, small and medium business development and other priority issues.

It was also noted that Georgia is among the priority countries within the framework of SIDA’s 2021-2027 cooperation strategy.
