Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili took part in the opening of a new petroleum processing enterprise - Serpens in Rustavi. The Minister personally inspected the enterprise and learned about its work process in detail.

“The opening of a new oil processing enterprise in Rustavi is one of the successful examples of the state program. When the land was handed over to the company 7-8 years ago, there was nothing here, in fact, it was a rolling field, but today we got an enterprise that meets modern standards, which will contribute to the development of our country’s economy even more,” – Vice Prime Minister highlighted.

The enterprise, which was built with the support of the state program, operated under the name of Rustavoil until now, however, after expansion/renovation and re-equipment, it was renamed Serpens. Over 30 million GEL was invested in the enterprise, and as the Vice Prime Minister noted, the investors’ commitments to the state have been fully fulfilled.

The plant produces high-quality bitumen that meets the Euro standard, which is important in the process of building high-quality roads and road infrastructure in the country and it meets the climatic condition requirements of different regions. At this point, 70 people are employed in the enterprise.

“It is especially gratifying for us that the enterprise employs dozens of professionals, primarily local residents. It should also be emphasized that this is an enterprise that complies with current ecological requirements, its impact on the environment is kept to a minimum,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development commented.
