Çalık Enerji to Build 50MW Wind Power Plant in Shida Kartli

Largest Turkish energy holding, Çalık Enerji will build a wind power plant of 50MW capacity in Georgia and namely, in the Shida Kartli region and the construction will require the investment of 75 million USD. The First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili, who is on the working meeting in Turkey, announced this news upon the completion of the meeting with the Ahmet Çalik, the Founder and the Chair of the Çalık Enerji.

First Vice Prime Minister stated that the Çalık Enerji will invest 75 million USD in building of the wind power plant in Georgia. 

“We recently completed negotiations  with Ahmet Çalik, the Founder and the Head of the Çalık Enerji, and we agreed that the wind power plant with a capacity of 50 MW and the investment of 75 million USD will be built in Shida Kartli. This is, of course, a very important investment, and at the same time, this will result into another new source of renewable energy in the electric power system of our country,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable development, Dimitry Kumsishvili stated.

In turn, Ahmet Çalik said that he believes in Georgia and its future. According to him, another investment implemented by the Çalık Enerji will contribute to the deepening of the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy and economics.

Ahmet Çalik also noted that he believes that the visit of the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia to Turkey will be very successful.

“Today, a very honorable delegation from Georgia is visiting us. It was a very productive meeting and the most important is that we agreed that the Çalık Enerji will invest in Georgia’s wind and solar energy sectors. At this stage, the first investment will be implemented in the wind energy and a 50 MW wind power plant will be built. We believe in Georgia and its future. We believe in Georgia,” - Ahmet Çalik stated.

The meeting with the Chair of the Board of the Çalık Enerji was held in Ankara, Turkey. Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Chikovani and Romeo Mikautadze, and the Director of the Energy Development Fund of Georgian, Tornike Rizhvadze also attended the meeting.

Çalık Enerji is implementing the wind power plant project in cooperation with Energy Development Fund of Georgia.
