Dimitry Kumsishvili Discussed Bilateral Relations with Turkish Deputy Prime Minister

First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili, within the framework of the working visit to Turkey, held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Georgia, Mehmet Şimşek. 

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Genadi Arveladze, the Vice President of the National Bank Archil Mestvirishvili and the Ambassador of Georgia to Turkey Irakli Koplatadze also attended the meeting.

Information on the economic processes and the current structural reforms in the two countries was shared during the meeting.

As it was noted, Georgia’s economic position is largely influenced by its main trading partners and namely the processes taking place in the Turkish economy. The meeting focused on the necessity of deepening the cooperation between the agencies of the two countries responsible for the implementation of the monetary policy.

Dimitry Kumsishvili and Mehmet Şimşek exchanged information on existing fiscal processes in the countries and the scheduled reforms in this direction. 

The necessity of timely completion of official procedures for the implementation of a diagonal cumulative agreement between Georgia, Turkey and the European Union was also highlighted, This Agreement will enable Georgia to increase its exports.

Results achieved during the negotiations on the expansion of the Free Trade Agreement that implies export of the certain animal-origin products on the Turkish market within the quotas and with the revised tariffs was also emphasized at the meeting. The mentioned negotiations were held within the framework of the Georgian First Vice Prime Minister’s working visit to Turkey.

At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed on further supporting of the trade and economic ties between Georgia and Turkey, facilitating business relations and development of the cooperation in the regional projects.
