Vision

Spatial development, city-building, construction and the settlement of the legal/regulatory issues related to their implementation are of outmost importance to the development of construction.

The main priorities of the spatial planning and construction are as follows: dynamic development of settlements; creation of prerequisites of structure of settlements and unsettled area, which means the creation of the territorial units for the equal economic, infrastructural, social, ecological and cultural development of the country; maintenance and development of the recreation areas; providing the safe and sustainable construction works.

Standards and technical regulations of international construction codes are employed in the resolution process of the technical regulations of construction works, which will allow us, taking into account the best international practices and their subsequent adaptation to the conditions of Georgia, to develop a set of national technical regulations and standards.

We established close contacts and carry out an active cooperation with EPI of USAID, GIZ- Legal and Judicial Reform Project in the South Caucasus, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Environment, Housing and Land Management Division, the UN Habitat Program and the World Bank.

Spatial Development and City-building

In order to regulated city-building and housing, facilitate sustainable economic development as well as to wisely use natural and economic resources, it is essential to carry out spatial and territorial planning covering the regions, towns and settlements of the country. In these terms, special priority is given to the recreational areas.

Preparation of the special document on spatial development of the regions, towns and other settlements of Georgia is currently being implemented.

The following decree projects were approved:
On Implementation of Development Measures for the Municipalities of Akhmeta and Tusheti;

The municipalities are distinguished with historical-geographical importance, preserved natural ecosystem, natural and cultural landscapes, material and intangible historic-cultural heritage and system of protected areas. Since these regions have high recreational, resort and tourism potential and good prerequisites for the creation of international level complexes, it is important to have a manual document, which will ensure not a chaotic, but a measurable development of these territories that will further increase their competence for attracting the additional investments and create more opportunities to maintain the cultural-historical values of the regions.
