Online Hackathon - Solving Coronavirus Problems and Overcoming Difficulties

The Agency for Innovation and Technology of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development launches a new online hackathon within the framework of the activities to combat the Coronavirus.

As the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava stated at the online presentation of the hackathon today, the goal of the hackathon is to create a prototype of digital product that will facilitate resolving of the virus-related problems.

“Today, the whole world, including Georgia, faces the global challenge - Coronavirus, which has brought us to work in an extraordinary form. I would like to address creative people to help us with ideas how to creatively go through these difficulties, help people to stay at home in self-isolation or quarantine period without too much discomfort. How can we help them to get an education or work remotely via online space,” – Natai Turnava said.

According to the Minister, applicants can fill in the relevant applications from today.

The online hackathon against Covid 19 will start on April 3, 2020.

Hackathon teams will be able to work for 72 hours with mentorship on challenges such as online medicine, food supply, distance education, disease monitoring and more.

“The first prize of the online hackathon amounts to GEL 20 000, and the winning team will be announced following the online presentations on April 5, 2020.
