“Construction of a new terminal at the Kutaisi International Airport is near to completion, we will have a comfortable, new terminal in a few months,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said after her visit to Kutaisi, where Natia Turnava and the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Kelly Degnan examined the ongoing works at the Kutaisi International Airport.
The Head of the Georgian Airports Association Tamar Archuadze, the State Representative in the Imereti Region Zviad Shalamberidze and the Acting Mayor of Kutaisi Davit Eremeishvili also attended the event.

The repair works of the new passenger terminal of the Kutaisi International Airport are continued in an intensive mode, and after their completion, the same process will be carried out in the existing terminal, after which the connection phase of the new and old terminals will begin. As a result, Kutaisi will have an upgraded, modern airport with a single terminal with arrival and departure lounges and all the equipment needed to operate an airport of international standards.

“We will combine the old and new terminals and we will have an airport that meets all the international standards, including all the safety standards set out by the World Health Organization during the fight against the Covid 19. Of course, this will be one of the points and faces of our tourist attraction, very comfortable and attractive for both travellers and foreign tourists,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated.

At the same time, it should be noted that the works defined by the third stage of construction are being carried out in parallel at the airport, the arrangement of the main part of the engineering-communications wiring has been completed. The luggage management system is being installed by the Polish company Dimark Group. Facade, stained glass and roof arrangement works have been also accomplished. A new passenger terminal terrace and walkways with unique green roofs were arranged as well.

Once the renovations are completed, the renovated airport will have 7 exits (so-called Gates) and will be able to serve 1200 passengers per hour, which will quadruple the recent capacity of the airport.
