Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava visited the villages of Shimshilakedi and Akhali Sviri of the Imereti Region, where the gasification process was recently accomplished. Natia Turnava personally got acquainted with the works done and met with the local population. The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development was accompanied by the State Representative in the Imereti Region Zviad Shalamberidze, the Head of the Gas Transportation Company Mikheil Shalamberidze, the Deputy Directors of the SOCAR Georgia Gas, Anton Samsonidze and Giorgi Gagua and the officials of the Municipalities of Zestaponi and Terjola.

Natia Turnava personally congratulated the villagers on the completion of the gasification works and introduced the state programs, which they can participate and contribute from, including the Enterprise Georgia program.

“A three-year large-scale government program of gasification envisages gasification of up to 400 settlements in Georgia and connecting them to the unified gasification network. As a result, additional 100 000 households will receive natural gas,” – the Minister commented.

Turnava highlighted that despite the coronavirus pandemic, the large-scale gasification program has not be interrupted anywhere and not in the Imereti Region as well.

“Due to Covid-19, we made a decision and subsidized three months of utility bills for a large part of the population and subscribers of Georgia. Therefore, this is a really big, large-scale program, which even Covis could not prevent. The gasification process continues in compliance with all the deadlines we promised the population,” – Natia Turnava added.
