“We are proud that Tbilisi today is a city where world tourism leaders are discussing what the future tourism will be like and how to overcome this difficult challenge, how to help the world globally, and Georgia will certainly have its role in this process,” – Natia Turnava, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia told journalists commenting the importance of the 112th session of the Executive Board of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Tbilisi.

As Natia Turnava noted, it is praiseworthy that Georgia is hosting such a high-ranking international event for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. “In total, we are hosting delegations from 24 different countries, who decided that Georgia is a country that is a safe, green and has tourist potential, where they can, by the way, physically participate in the session for the first time since the pandemic,” – the Minister noted.

Natia Turnava highlighted that the event has two important messages for Georgia: Georgia is considered as a country with great tourism potential, which has already achieved a lot in this field and can occupy a higher, more dignified place globally. The second message is that our government, quite successfully, is doing everything possible to hold such high-level meetings in Georgia as a safe country. We are still a green country and this is a very high assessment of the effectiveness of our actions,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said.
