The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Irakli Nadareishvili, took part in the official opening of the tech park in Kaspi. The tech park project is being implemented by the Innovation and Technology Agency with the financial support of the World Bank. In addition to the tech park, a vocational school was also opened. Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Avtandil Kasradze, Head of the LEPL Innovation and Technology Agency, and Irakli Mezurnishvili, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Sectoral Economics and Economic Policy also took part in the official opening of the tech park.

The invited guests toured the physical space of the tech park, where technological, educational and professional resources are gathered and represent a kind of platform for the development of businesses based on innovation and technology. The tech park brings people of different ages, directions and ideas together and helps them, using the tech park infrastructure, create innovative, technology-based products that will be competitive in both the local and global markets.

According to Irakli Nadareishvili, the LEPL Innovation and Technology Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development implements programs to support an innovative eco-system. These provide programs to facilitate access to finance, including grants and accelerations, as well as educational and training areas.

“Access to these programs and services is a very important factor. That is why one of the directions implemented by the Innovation and Technology Agency is the development of tech parks in the regions. Kaspi Tech Park provides all services to the local population, including young people interested in innovations. Our priority is to develop a knowledge and technology-based economy,” - the Deputy Minister said. According to him, the tech park will help the local population, representatives of the private sector and the municipality to use hitherto hard-to-reach technologies to develop their own activities and gain knowledge in the field of innovation and technology, as well as entrepreneurship.

The tech park represents the Universal Laboratory of Industrial Innovation (Fablab) - with the latest equipment: high-throughput 3D printer, laser cutter, programmable machines, CNC machine, card printing router, 3D scanner and more. A laboratory space staffed with highly qualified specialists will assist stakeholders in modeling and prototyping.

Moreover, the tech park combines a training center and a common workspace (co-working) for startups and the so-called „freelancers“, where it is possible, under certain conditions, to get a job in order to develop personal ideas or startup. The space is equipped with all the conditions that contribute to the startup development.

The tech park will also have a conference hall, collaborative workplaces and other services that will create a unified eco-system in the direction of innovation and technology and contribute to the development of innovative ideas in the region.

This infrastructure contributes to building a knowledge-based economy in the country, creating a highly skilled and highly paid workforce, developing an inclusive economy and mobilizing investments in the country.
