09-11-2020

A feasibility study in line with the negotiations on Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and the Republic of Korea is planned to be launched.

The decision was made at a preliminary consultation, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Genadi Arveladze, from the Georgian side, and the Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, Zhang Hui Kim, from the Korean side.

During the consultations, the parties reviewed the trade policies of Georgia and Korea sharing their vision and goals, trade regimes, priorities, areas of interest and other issues with each other.

It was noted that Korea is an important trade partner of Georgia. In addition, there is untapped trade potential, which, according to the parties, will be mostly used in the conditions of free trade regime. Korea has forged 16 free trade agreements with 56 countries globally, including the United States, the European Union and China.

The parties agreed on the next steps to be taken, which include making a decision on conducting a feasibility study in line with the free trade agreement between Korea and Georgia.
