Natia Turnava, the Acting Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, met with the representatives of the hotel industry and once again introduced them to the regulations that will apply on New Year’s Eve to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Irakli Nadareishvili, the Head of the Labor Inspectorate Beka Peradze, the Acting Business Ombudsman Nino Kvenetadze and the Acting Head of the National Tourism Administration Medea Janiashvili also attended the meeting.

According to Natia Turnava, due to the epidemic, this year the New Year celebrations will be held in a different mode and in the pre-New Year period strict restrictions apply not only in Georgia but in the rest of the world as well, so that the New Year does not become an incentive event for the epidemic.

“We have gathered once again to personally warn the hotel industry to meet with guests on New Year’s Eve with fewer events and in full compliance with regulations. I am sure that hotels will take our warning with extreme responsibility. As you know, it is forbidden to hold concerts and other cultural events in the country. That is why New Year’s dinners are banned this year amid traditional, concert events. In practice, there will be a rather harsh response, and before we are forced to react harshly, it is better to warn the hotel industry in advance and remind them on the legislation,” – Natia Turnava said.
