Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Guram Guramishvili chaired a session of the national secretaries of TRASECA held in Tbilisi on December 5. The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Secretariat of Europe-Caucasus-Asia Transport Corridor (TRASECA) organized the event.
Within the framework of the session, the delegations of the TRACECA member states discussed a number of issues of the agenda, including the implementation of the TRACECA 2022-2026 action plan and further steps. The national secretaries of the member states agreed to continue active work on improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor.
Being the head of the Georgian Delegation, Guram Guramishvili emphasized Georgia’s role in the development of the TRACECA corridor and its active involvement in the ongoing pilot initiatives and projects within the TRACECA. According to him, the Government of Georgia is making significant state investments in order to develop the transport and logistics infrastructure of the country. The Deputy Minister also spoke about the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project, which, after its implementation, will be able to serve the cargo passing through the TRACECA corridor and thus contribute to the intensification of traffic flows between the West and the East.
It should be noted that in 2023, Georgia is the chairing country of the TRACECA intergovernmental Commission.
