Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava, awarded the organizers of the Spend Your Summer in Georgia campaign for their contribution to tourism development at the fifth annual ceremony of Welcome to Georgia! National Tourism Awards.

“Today I have the opportunity to award a group of very creative young people for their special contribution made to the development of tourism; these people suggested to launch the Spend Your Summer in Georgia campaign, which united the whole Georgia around this slogan,” – Natia Turnava said.

While delivering a speech at the ceremony, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development also thanked all those working in the tourism and hospitality sector.

“If anyone is deserved to be a patriot of our country, it is those who are engaged in the tourism and hospitality field. You have been able to convey your love and emotions to the guests of our country, to the whole world and I express my gratitude to you for this,” - Natia Turnava stated.

She added that the government, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the National Tourism Administration are doing their best to respond to the sectoral challenges and attract more tourists to Georgia.

Natia Turnava noted that next year the marketing campaign of the National Tourism Administration will mainly focus on the international platforms such as CNN, National Geographic, Bloomberg, Google and others.

“In addition, we are pursuing an active policy in our aviation industry – we are attracting low-cost airlines as much as possible. I am sure this will enable you to better serve your business, this sector, our population and of course, bring more tourists to the country,” – Natia Turnava commented.

At the awards ceremony, 26 winners were revealed out of more than 380 representatives of the tourism and hospitality sector.

The event was attended by about 700 guests, including the government and business sector officials, as well as international and local media representatives. The Head of the National Tourism Administration of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, also participated in the event.

The National Tourism Awards is an annual event that has been holding in Georgia since 2015, and has successfully established itself as a trusted, unique platform contributing significantly to the development of Georgian tourism and hospitality.
