Ekaterine Mikabadze at Webinar “Pandemic, World Economy and Georgia”

Ekaterine Mikabadze, the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia spoke about the anti-crisis action plan of the Georgian government and the main directions of the post-crisis strategy at the online webinar “Pandemic, World Economy and Georgia” held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Polish reformer, the TSU Honorary Doctor, Professor Leszek Balcerowicz, the TSU Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze, the Dean of the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business Giorgi Ghaghanidze and the Economist, the Director General of the Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMCG) Alex Aleksishvili, also attended the webinar.

Ekaterine Mikabadze stated that the Georgian Government, by taking effective measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic, has made it possible to cancel the quarantine restrictions earlier than planned and gradually re-launch the economy. The Deputy Minister spoke in detail about the measures taken at the stage of prevention of the pandemic and introduced the participants of the meeting to the plans developed by the Government, which should promote the economy in the post-crisis period.

Webinar participants also spoke about the impact of the pandemic on education in Georgia and around the world and the new challenges the education sector is facing, what the post-pandemic world economy in the face of global degeneration or globalization in the new century will be, what the Georgian Government plans to restore the economy and what new opportunities the pandemic has given to the Georgian economy.
