“It is especially important that the construction of the Bamboo Beach Resort Tsikhisdziri complex begins at a time when the global tourism industry is facing a major challenge and tourism is heavily affected by the global pandemic. This project is important to strengthen the Georgian tourism industry and I am sure that it will be one of the most brilliant projects in the country’s tourism industry,” – Natia Turnava, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated at the presentation of the new project of the REDCO development company.

The Minister participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of the hotel complex, which is planned to be accomplished by 2021. The project envisages construction of a complex of 521 premium class apartments and 119 hotel rooms under the Marriott International’s international brand. Tornike Rizhvadze, the Head of the Government of Adjara also took part in the ceremony.

According to Natia Turnava, the total investment of the project is 70 million GEL, and 200 people will be employed directly on the construction works. The Marriott International’s aloft is represented in 25 countries around the world including Georgia. “This project is symbolic because it is launched when the hotels in many countries are closed. For us, this is a symbol that despite all the challenges - the pandemic, the global economic crisis, etc., our tourism industry will not only survive, but will become stronger than ever. We have gained a new, unique competitive advantage during this period. Our tourism industry has endured everything. Therefore, it is absolutely right that today we should lay the foundation for new hotels,” – Natia Turnava commented.

“The policy of the Government of Georgia, which is aimed at supporting the affected tourism sector, is quite effective and against this background it is possible not only to maintain existing hotels, but also to start construction of new complexes. I am sure that this will be a precondition for an even stronger tourism sector in Georgia. We are coming out of this crisis stronger than we were before,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development added.

The infrastructure of the Bamboo Beach Tsikhisdziri complex includes: a port, open and closed swimming pools, aqua park, zip-line, children’s playground, spa and fitness center, conference hall, open and closed parking lots, restaurants and bars. The complex will be located in the first lane of the coast and surrounded with the bamboo forest.
