From August 1, the European low-budget airline Wizz Air will return the second aircraft based at the Kutaisi International Airport and resume direct regular flights from Georgia to the capitals of France and Estonia. Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili and Wizz Air Corporate Communications Manager, Zsazsa Trubek made relevant decision.

Wizz Air representative is on a working visit to Georgia and will hold meetings in Tbilisi and Kutaisi.

Tamar Archuadze, the Head of the Association of Georgian Airports, also participated in the meeting.

Initially, a direct regular flight to Tallinn will be operated from Kutaisi twice a week from August 1, and to Paris – once a week from August 4.

“We have made a very important decision - the Hungarian airline will return the second base ship to Georgia and from the first of August will perform regular flights from Kutaisi International Airport to Paris and Tallinn. European destinations are particularly important for our tourism and aviation sector. This decision once again emphasizes the trend that both tourism and civil aviation in Georgia are quickly returning to their pre-pandemic levels. We are working closely with the Hungarian airline to jointly identify the right destinations, as a result of which more European tourists will be able to travel to our country. At the same time, Wizz Air plans to increase the frequency of flights to other destinations, which it currently flies from Kutaisi,” – the Deputy Minister stated after the meeting.

The meeting also covered the challenges and ways of their solving in terms of rapid recovery of tourism in Europe and Georgia.
