Mariam Kvrivishvili at UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism

Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, spoke about the development and achievements of Georgian wine tourism at the UN World Tourism Organization’s global wine tourism conference held in Alba, Italy. The conference, which brought together the government and business delegations of the leading wine-growing countries of Europe, was held for the 6th time and was dedicated to innovations in the future development of wine tourism, as well as the emphasis was placed on the sustainable development of this direction of tourism, using digital and social technologies to promote the advantages of wine tourism and winemaking. 

“Participation in such a high-level event is of great importance for our country. We are given the opportunity to inform representatives of the international wine and tourism industry about the development and achievements of Georgian wine, tourism and wine tourism, as well as to meet international partners and discuss future cooperation with them. I am glad that the wine tourism industry of Georgia is positively evaluated at the global level, and it is an example for many countries of how the winemaking and tourism sectors should cooperate in order to achieve high results like Georgia” – Mariam Kvrivishvili stated following her speech at the conference.

According to the Deputy Minister, Georgian delegation held important meetings with the international partners, as well as with the representatives of other countries where joint action plans were drawn up, which should contribute to the rapid recovery and further strengthening of the tourism sector in Georgia.
The Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili opened the UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism.

Representatives of Italy, Portugal, Greece, Moldova, San Marino, Bulgaria and Serbia, the leading wine tourism countries in the world, also participated in the conference.
