Romeo Mikautadze at EU4Environment Regional Assembly

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Romeo Mikautadze participated in the 4th session of the European Union for Environmental Protection (EU4Environment) regional assembly.

Deputy Minister, in his speech, positively assessed the importance of the EU4Environment program for Georgia and focused on the development of the green economy.

Romeo Mikautadze identified priority directions, such as introduction of resource-efficient and clean production practices and green innovations in small and medium-sized enterprises, development of green growth indicators, etc. He spoke in detail about the decisions implemented in Georgia for sustainable and inclusive development of the country.

The EU4Environment aims to assist six Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine) to deliver policy and legislative changes, making planning and investment greener, stimulating thus the uptake of innovative technologies, adopting new business models, and creating green jobs. It also promotes better environmental governance, improved management of protected areas and forests, and sustainable trade.
