Competition announced for the provision of the  design of a new terminal of the Mestia Airport accomplished - the Green Studio was selected as a winning company – the company presented the best project of the new terminal of Mestia Airport among the other 18 bidders.

Mestia and, in general, Svaneti Region is one of the important tourist destinations - the existing terminal of the Mestia Airport can no longer provide the capacity of the increased flow of domestic and international travellers, the number of flights is also increases, and therefore the government decided to build a new airport terminal in Mestia.

Expansion of the Mestia Airport and its infrastructure development is an important component of the government's priorities, which primarily involve the movement of Georgian citizens, including the population living in Svaneti, at low prices, as well as the development of Svaneti's tourism potential. Accordingly, along with the development of the infrastructure, domestic flights are also subsidized by the state.

The new terminal of the Mestia Airport will be a modern, single-storey building with a free layout and will functionally consist of departure and take-off areas. The terminal is designed for the capacity of the maximum number of passengers. Food and shopping spaces, as well as other necessary services, are provided in the departure and departure lounges.

The construction of the terminal will start this year and be completed in 2025.
