According to the Director of the Association of Georgian Airports of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ketevan Aleksidze, the Kuwait's low-cost airlines company Jazeera Airways will launch regular flights to Tbilisi in June.

As Ketevan Aleksidze noted, negotiations between the Jazeera Airways and the Association of the Georgian Airports have been developing since March 2016.

The Kuwait Airways finds the Georgian aviation market to be prospective and intends to operate on three routes a week on the Kuwait-Tbilisi route, but the airline does not exclude to increase the flight frequency in the future.

The Gulf countries have been increasingly interested in Georgia as an important tourist destination in recent years.

In 2017, the passenger traffic between Kuwait-Tbilisi increased by 45% compared to 2016 while the same figure from Gulf Arab countries equaled 53%.

The President of the Jazeera Airways, Rohit Ramachandran as well as the Vice President of the company, Rafik Baghdad met with the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Dimitry Kumsishvili, where the sides discussed about performing the direct flights between Tbilisi and Kuwait.

The Director of the Association of Georgian Airports, Ketevan Aleksidze and the Head of National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Giorgi Chogovadze also attended the meeting.
