In 2024, a historical minimum in unemployment was recorded – decreasing by 2,5 % to 13,9%.

Furthermore, a record number of employed individuals was recorded in 2024. The number of employed people was increased by 67,9 thousand last year, reaching 1 million 402 thousand. The employment rate was increased by 2,6% to 47,1%. The number of unemployed people is also at a record low, decreasing by 34,7 thousand to 227 thousand.

The trends of decreasing unemployment and increasing employment have been consistently observed over the last three years. Specifically, compared to 2021, the unemployment rate has decreased by 6,7 percentage points, while the number of employed people has increased by 185 thousand.

The number of wage-employed people increased by 40 thousand in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching 960,4 thousand, while the number of self-employed people was increased by 27,9 thousand, reaching 441,5 thousand.

The increase in employment is observed in parallel with the growth of the labor force, which indicates healthy trends and structural improvements in the labor market. The labor force increased by 33,2 thousand in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching 1 million 629 thousand, while the labor force participation rate improved by 1,5%, reaching 54,8%.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the decreasing unemployment and increasing employment dynamics continued, and the unemployment rate reached a historical minimum for the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the unemployment rate decreased by 1,1% compared to the fourth quarter of the previous year, reaching 14,2%.
