20-02-2025

Georgia became a member of the Energy Community in 2017 and, in accordance with the organization’s charter, the county becomes the chair of the organization for the first time in 2025.

An official ceremony was held in Vienna, Austria, to mark this event, and was attended by representatives of the Energy Community member countries, along with the Georgian delegation.

The Energy Community is an international organization that ensures cooperation between the European Union and member countries to achieve energy security, energy sustainability, and environmental goals.

The Energy Community has nine contracting parties: Georgia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, and Ukraine. Notably, the European Union is also a party to the Energy Community Treaty and the organization's permanent vice-president.

Georgia's membership and chairmanship of the Energy Community reaffirm Georgia's commitment to deepening energy cooperation with the European Union, promoting sustainable energy policies, and strengthening energy security.
