Levan Davitashvili Held Meeting with Vice Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khodjaev

First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili, and Vice Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khodjaev, discussed issues of strengthening economic relations between the two countries at an expanded meeting held in Tashkent as part of the official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed current and future partnership directions between Georgia and Uzbekistan, and also reviewed important issues on the agenda of the 10th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the two countries, including the creation of a trade and economic working group and the possibilities of increasing direct flights. The meeting of the Vice Prime Ministers was attended by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Davit Songhulashvili, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze, and other high-ranking representatives of the Georgian government delegation.

According to Levan Davitashvili, there are long-standing traditions of friendship between Georgia and Uzbekistan, which have been further strengthened and have reached a qualitatively new level in recent years.

“We attach great importance to increasing the pace of cooperation development. I believe that with joint efforts we will actively continue to deepen bilateral relations and be able to open new opportunities for more effective development of partnership” – Levan Davitashvili commented.

As it was said at the meeting, a growing dynamic has been recorded in various sectors of the economy between Georgia and Uzbekistan in recent years. According to the data of 2024, trade turnover between the countries was increased by 40%, the number of visitors from Uzbekistan to Georgia was increased by 23% last year, and significant growth is also recorded in freight traffic, including 442,7 thousand tons of cargo transported between the two countries by road transport (growth of 6.1%), while the volume of cargo transported by rail transport was increased by 24,7%.
