“This high-ranking competition is being held in Georgia for the third time this winter season. This year, Gudauri and Bakuriani have hosted nearly 300 athletes in total. The organization of today's competition was rated at a high level. Positive evaluations were received by the Mountain Trails Agency and the Ski Federation for the organization. Hosting such events is important for the promotion of our country and mountain-tourist resorts. Especially since international media actively publishes reports and articles about the ongoing World Cup. Today's competition was no exception, as it was broadcast live on Eurosport,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated when attending the first day of the World Cup stage in the snowboard cross discipline in Gudauri.

The Deputy Minister awarded the winners in snowboard cross - Jakob Dusek (Austria), Adam Lambert (Australia), and Eliot Grondin (Canada). A total of 88 athletes from 21 countries were competing in the World Cup stage, including Canada, USA, Great Britain, Austria, Australia, Switzerland, China, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Hungary, Japan, and others.

According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, holding high-ranking competitions under the auspices of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) contributes to increasing the recognition of Georgia as a country with developed mountain ski infrastructure. Kvrivishvili noted that this has a positive impact on both the tourism sector directly, as well as on the promotion of mountain resorts and the increase in tourist flows.

The event is being held with the support of the Georgian government, organized by the Mountain Trails Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Ski Federation.

It is noteworthy that as a result of the successfully conducted events, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation has included Georgia, specifically Gudauri and Bakuriani, in its permanent calendar.
