Direct foreign investments in the fourth quarter of 2024 amounted to 367,5 million USD, which is by 24,4% higher than the figure for the fourth quarter of the previous year.

As about investments by countries, the increase in investments in the 4th quarter of 2024 is mainly due to the increase in investments from Malta (+42 million USD), the Netherlands (+38 million USD), and the United Kingdom (+17 million USD). Investments were ¬¬also increased from Germany (+8 million USD), Israel (+5 million USD), and Turkey (+5 million USD).

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the volume of direct foreign investment from the European Union was increased 4,8 times compared to the fourth quarter of the previous year, and its volume accounted for 26,9% of total investments.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the largest amount of direct foreign investment came from the United Kingdom (60,6% of direct foreign investment), Malta (18,5%), and the Netherlands (9,9%).

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the largest amount of direct foreign investment was made in the financial and insurance activities sector – 314,9 million USD. This was followed by the real estate sector with 65,8 million USD, the manufacturing sector with 23,1 million USD, the information and communication sector with 18,8 million USD, and the transportation and storage sector in fifth place with 15,6 million USD.

In 2024, significant growth in direct foreign investment was recorded from the United Kingdom (23%), Malta (80,5%), the Czech Republic (279,3%), and Germany (56,3%).
In terms of investment volume, the United Kingdom ranked first in 2024, accounting for 33,6% of total direct foreign investment, followed by Malta with 13,2% and the Netherlands with 11,4%.

In 2024, direct foreign investment increased in the energy sector (increased 2,9 times, by 82,2 million USD, totaling to 126,5 million USD), the real estate sector (increased by 39,7%, totaling to 155,3 million USD), and the hotel and restaurant sector (increased by 27,1%, totaling to 21,1 million USD).
