“For many decades, friendly and fruitful cooperation has been developed between Georgia and Armenia, and today our countries have very close good-neighborly relations aimed at developing a mutually beneficial partnership based on trust. I would like to emphasize that we consider the trade and economic cooperation between Georgia and Armenia to be as important as political relations” – the First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili stated while addressing the Georgia-Armenia Business Forum in Yerevan.
Levan Davitashvili focused on several important issues of trade and economic relations between Georgia and Armenia, including the cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries. The First Vice Prime Minister emphasized that as a result of successfully implemented projects and initiatives in recent years, Armenia invariably holds leading positions in the top ten trading partners of Georgia – in 2024, Armenia was in the 9th position among the main trading partners.
“The dynamics of high-level visits between our countries have significantly increased, which has greatly contributed to the further development and strengthening of our relations at both the state and private sector levels. Currently, 600 companies with Armenian capital operate in Georgia in various sectors. At the same time, I would like to note the unprecedented investment made by Lion Finance Group in Armenia last year, which can be considered a significant step in strengthening financial ties between our countries. Armenia deserves the trust of Georgian investors” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development noted.
Furthermore, Levan Davitashvili emphasized that the Georgian government’s vision includes achieving high and inclusive economic growth while maintaining macroeconomic stability, structural improvement of the economy, and increasing the competitiveness of the private sector. The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development presented the representatives of the economic and business sectors of both countries with significant ongoing infrastructure projects in Georgia, the main trends in the country’s economic growth and development, and existing statistical data, as well as Georgia’s high positions in the ratings of international financial institutions.
“In 2024, higher-than-expected economic growth was recorded, amounting to 9,4%, and Georgia ranks third in the world in terms of economic growth rate. 2025 also started positively – the average economic growth for January-March is 9,3%. These indicators confirm that Georgia is positioned in the region as one of the most promising countries with an investment-friendly environment. Considering all this, we have ambitious goals to become one of the best investment destinations on the world map” – Levan Davitashvili said.
The Forum was attended by representatives of economic agencies and various business sectors from Georgia and Armenia. Among the participants from the Georgian side were Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze, President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Giorgi Pertaia, and Deputy Director of the Enterprise Georgia Agency Irakli Gabriadze, who introduced the Armenian business sector to the private sector support programs and mechanisms operating in Georgia.
