Economic Policy Department’s Functions: 

  • To participate in the elaboration of economic policy of the country;
  • To manage economic policy planning process; to coordinate the policy, monitoring and making an assessment of policy implementation with the involvement of interested parties; 
  • To analyze existing flaws in monitoring process and elaborate recommendations; 
  • To prepare the reports regarding implementation of policy documents and action plans within the competence; 
  • To participate in elaboration of policy over the priorities of the country, including SMEs development, improvement of business environment, state owned property management and carrying out of relevant activities with the involvement of interested parties; 
  • To participate in the elaboration of economic reforms of the country and institutional-legal regulation system; 
  • To participate in elaboration of economic policy of sectors together with relevant governmental bodies; 
  • To arrange dialogue between public and private sectors and deepen the cooperation;
  • To make regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) on proposed legislative initiatives and draft laws;
  • To cooperate with international organizations, participate in state and intergovernmental negotiations and implement relevant measures within the scope of competence; 
  • To prepare analytical surveys of Georgia’s position in international ratings, within the scope of competence;
  • To prepare proposals for determination and implementation of state policy related to management and disposal of state property;
  • To study and make an assessment of existing situation on labor market of Georgia; 
  • Through the cooperation with international and donor organizations, to make a survey and analysis of labor market demand of Georgia; 
  • Through the cooperation with private sector, to reveal demanding professions and qualifications on labor market and prepare recommendations for the Ministry's leadership and other interested agencies; 
  • To participate in elaboration of documents related to labor market environment within the scope of competence; 
  • To cooperate with state agencies/organizations in direction of acquiring/exchange information about labor market; 
  • To facilitate the functioning of Labor Market Information System (LMIS).
