Natia Turnava at US Exim Bank

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava, within the frames of the visit to the USA, held a meeting with the Member of the Board of Directors of the Exim Bank, Judith Pryor. Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genadi Arveladze also attended the meeting. 

At the meeting the sides discussed potential cooperation in different sectors of the economy, emphasizing the possibility of attracting US companies to the Georgian market and investing in the economy of the country. Special emphasis was made on the fastest growing segments such as real estate, hotels, business process outsourcing, manufacturing, etc. It was noted that the Georgian side welcomes the deepening and strengthening of the economic links with its strategic partner, the USA including the development of the bilateral trade.

Special emphasis was paid to the contribution of the US Exim Bank in Georgia’s energy sector, including in the direction of the better utilization of the renewable energy sources. It was noted that Georgia considers the use of local energy resources as a priority and supports international investment in this field, especially participation of such a significant financial organization in the process as the US Exim Bank.

Georgia’s development as a regional hub was also discussed during the meeting. Georgia, with its advantageous geostrategic location, is able to perform more active function and get more benefits if it will serve an increased cargo turnover between Europe, Central Asia and China. The Georgian side provided the US Exim Bank with detailed information on free trade agreements Georgia has signed with the European Union, China, CIS countries and other countries, and also focused on the decisions aimed at developing country’s competitiveness and export potential.

The US side pledged support to Georgia’s delegation.
