Natia Turnava: Over 5000 families of Imereti Region will be provided with natural gas

“A three-year gasification program, which will provide natural gas supply in 226 settlements of Georgia, is underway. Today I examined the works in Zestafoni and Terjola municipalities - some of the villages are already gasified while in some of the villages the gasification works have just started, and we suggest that these villages will have the gas-supply until the heating season,” – Natia Turnava stated during her visit to the Imereti Region. The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development met with the population of several villages of the Municipalities of Zestaponi and Terjola where she got familiar with ongoing gasification works in the villages of Rkvia, Skanda and Shimshilakedi.

The Minister noted that 29 settlements will be covered in the Imereti Region. “It means that 5150 families will get the access to the natural gas this year already,” – Natia Turnava noted.

Gasification works in the village of Rkvia of the Zestaponi Municipality were launched on August 16 and will be finished on October 23 and as a result, 158 households will be gasified. Estimated cost of the project is 59999,71 GEL. The length of the pipeline is 22751m. The works will be carried out by the contractor company Energy Invest 2009 Ltd.

Gasification works in Shimshilakedi village of Terjola municipality are underway since July and will be finished in September. In total, 39 families will be gasified. Estimated cost of the project is 64 508.03 GEL. The length of the pipeline is 2419m. Works carried out by the contractor company Mnatobi 2013 Ltd.

Gasification works in Skande village of the Terjola Municipality, gasification works were started this July and this September, after completion of works, 215 households will have the access to the natural gas. Estimated cost of the project is 383 710,92 GEL. The length of the pipeline is 14912m. The works are carried out by the contractor company Mnatobi 2013 Ltd.

Natia Turnava highlighted that by 2021, over 1,3 million households will be gasified across the country, which is 85% of the total population. This number makes us the leading country in Europe in terms of gasification coverage. The gasification plan, which has been discussed and approved by the Georgian government with the involvement of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, also includes settlements where there has never been natural gas before,” – Natia Turnava said.

State Representative to the Imereti Region, Zviad Shalamberidze, Zestaponi majoritarian MP Shalva Kiknavelidze, as well as the representatives of the local municipalities and the JSC Gas Transportation Company accompanied the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development in her visit.
