Natia Turnava Met with Imereti Region Population

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia talked about the challenges in the Imereti region and the projects planned by the Government during the meetings with the local population of the Imereti Region villages. State Representative to the Imereti Region, Zviad Shalamberidze, Zestaponi majoritarian MP Shalva Kiknavelidze, as well as the representatives of the local municipalities and the JSC Gas Transportation Company also attended the meeting. Natia Turnava inspected the ongoing gasification works in Rkvia, Skanda and Shimshilakedi villages after meeting with the population.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development received information from the locals about the needs that they found to be of outmost importance. Natia Turnava informed them on the plans that are priorities of the Georgian government, especially regarding the rapid development of the regions. Among the Government priorities, the Minister named the large-scale gasification program, which is being actively implemented and as a result, only in the Imereti Region over five thousand families will have get the access to the natural gas.

“We are doing our best to provide the people of the region with all the benefits that will create economic prosperity and new development opportunities for you. In addition to gasification, there are considerations about high-speed, fiber-optic internet, which will cover the whole Georgia and, of course, the Imereti Region. In September we are also announcing micro-grants program that will give you a real chance to turn your ideas into a business or expand your existing business,” – Natia Turnava said.

The Minister noted that the Imereti Region has good potential to develop agro-tourism and to set up guesthouses. “If you choose this area of activity, the National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy will assist you in properly positioning of your business at the market and speeding the information,’ – Natia Turnava noted.
