Natia Turnava expressed gratefulness to the leader of Azerbaijan for warm hospitality and supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.  It was highlighted that Azebaijan is Georgia’s strategic partner and reliable neighbor and therefore, further intensification of bilateral relations is very important for Georgia.

Importance of maintaining the peace in the region, which is essential for the full-stream development of the countries and for the realization of transport and energy projects of global significance, was stressed during the meeting. The implication of enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of the transport corridor passing through Georgia and Azerbaijan, promoting the transit potential of our countries at the international level and continuing joint efforts in this direction was highlighted as well. 

The meeting focused on the high level of economic cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan. In particular, Azerbaijan id the third major trading partner among other trading partners of countries of Georgia with 9% share and, at the same time, according to the 2018 data, it is the largest investor country in Georgia with 19% share. Successful cooperation in the tourism sector was also emphasized since last year, the number of visitors from Azerbaijan to Georgia was increased by 9% percent, and Azerbaijan is the leader regarding this indicator as well.

Natia Turnava paid special attention to the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, which is to be held on 22-23 October in Tbilisi. This is the third biannual forum and the Minister expressed hope that Azerbaijan will be impressively introduced at the Forum.
