Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia participated in the awarding ceremony of the graduates with diplomas of international vocational programs authorized by the British international educational organization (BTEC) at the College Spektri. The representatives of the Georgian government, diplomatic corps, international organizations and private sector attended the event.

Natia Turnava congratulated 62 graduates on receiving the diplomas and spoke about the importance of international vocational diplomas while delivering her speech. As the Minister noted, this is the first time in the history of the independent Georgia, which is important for the graduates themselves and the whole country, as well.

“Of course, this is very important to you, because it opens a new door to the world labor market for you, but it’s even more significant for us, the Government of Georgia - the Ministries of Education and Economy, as it envisages a new stage, when the vocational education and training) institutions such as “Spektri”, "Akhali Talgha" and others, which, I am sure, will soon be added with the help of the Ministry of Education and our Agency and these educational centers will really become the centerpiece of our future policy,” – the Minister of Economy said.

According to her, “vocational education is a niche, where the main focus is laid on and which will always be supported by the government in order to train and retrain our compatriots to obtain various in-demand professions.”

“We will also keep an eye on how they will be employed both in our industries and abroad,” – Natia Turnava stated.

The BTEC Diploma is recognized in 150 countries under international professional standards. Funded by the Millennium Challenge Account, College Spektri (spectrum) has developed the new vocational education programs authorized by the British international educational organization in conjunction with College Akhali Talgha (new wave). Since autumn 2017, both colleges have been teaching students following the international standards of the British Technical and Economic Council in four vocational education areas: welding, electricity, air conditioning and water supply systems. Since 2017, 190 students have registered for BTEC-accredited programs.
