The memorandums were signed by the Head of the USAID Economic Security Program, Mark McCord, the Chairman of the National Agency of State Property, Giorgi Dugladze and the Director of the Produce in Georgia Agency, Mikheil Khidureli.

The cooperation with the state agencies subordinated to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development aims to make these agencies promote the employment and investment potential growth and increase sales and revenues for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises by using different ties and encouraging the development of new and differentiated products.

“The US government is providing unprecedented support to Georgia, which has been confirmed by numerous actions, including the US Congress’s bipartisan support for Georgia," – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava, said in a comment made after the signing ceremony. According to her, the USAID Economic Security Program will help develop Georgia's priority economic sectors. “We are underscoring the areas that will bring us new technologies and knowledge and will promote the development of a knowledge-based economy. At the same time, it is important for us to support traditional areas, where there is a large employment potential. They include textile, processing industry and others. It is very significant for us that the US government continues to back us so intensively,” - Natia Turnava said.

“The USAID has long been working successfully with the Georgian government in the sectors such as energy, agriculture and other sectors of the economy. We are pleased to announce that a new collaboration has taken place between the USAID Economic Security Program and the two agencies. The collaboration is intended to identify significant interventions, which will affect the economy in priority sectors and, by using different ties and encouraging the development of products, will help create high-paying jobs and increase foreign and private sector investments in Tbilisi and the regions of Georgia,” – the Mission Director of USAID/Georgia, Peter Wiebler, stated.

Prior to the signing, a meeting was held between the parties highlighting the overall support for the program and successful work with the Ministry's subordinate agencies, including the National Tourism Administration, Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency and the Mountain Resorts Development Company.
